It’s no longer news that Tonto Dikeh has gotten some parts of her body reconstructed via plastic surgery.
Yes, she revealed to all who cares to listen that she has gotten her butt done which reportedly cost N5M. It just didn’t end there, on her Instagram page.
This singular act eased off the rumours of her surgery. With this announcement, it makes Tonto Dikeh the very first Nigerian celebrity to come out publicly to admit that she has done a surgery on her body.
Why did she do this?
According to the star actress, . My body is something I have been extremely ashamed of” she revealed in the trailer of her new TV series King Tonto.
Part of the scenes in the promo clip saw Tonto Dikeh submit herself to a cosmetic surgery expected to enhance her confidence when it concerns her physical appearance.
Culture of silence
We all know we live in a country where we do not really reveal details when operations like this are done. No one wants to be in the spotlight for saying they had boob enlargement or butt implants surgeries. It is seen as a big deal which makes Tonto’s case a very rare one.
From Tonto Dikeh’s revelation about the doctor and his team behind her surgery, it is obvious that there are a number of plastic surgery clinics in the country. This means a lot of people from this part of the world are joining the rest of the world in the cosmetic surgery industry.
Even though this might sound new to you, the cosmetic industry in Nigeria started with Modupe Ozolua. In 2001, she launched her cosmetic surgery business and followed up with an aesthetic lasers business in 2007. Ozolua’s line of business made her popular as she graced the cover of many soft sell magazines.
Undoubtedly Modupe Ozolua had quite a few customers but none of them publicly said they had work done on their bodies. This is where Tonto Dikeh differs. As Nigeria’s queen of shock, the actress allowed cameras to see her strip and get work done on her body. She has now crossed the line.
