Ireland is set become the first country to choose an openly gay man as its leader in Leo Varadkar, the Irish-Indian politician was elected the leader of the country; ruling party in may just after the resignation of the immediate past prime minister Enda Kenny.
Leo Varadkar, 38 is also Ireland youngest politician to be elected into the highest political office yet, he also makes the youngest elected leader in the world being slightly younger than France’s Macron who is months younger. he has been hailed in Ireland as one to inject fresh blood into governance which until his grand ascendancy e was entirely dominated by a white ethnic majority as well as an older set of politicians.

Varadkar whose father migrated from Mumbai India is a university of Dublin trained medical doctor. he entered mainstream his politics in 2014, when in a local government election he polled 5,000 votes in the Dublin west constituency election that was held. three year he was elected to represent Dublin constituency in parliament.
in 2014, he became Ireland’s minister of health, and fine Gael suffered an electoral defeat in last year general election he entered a minority coalition as minister of social protection.
when in 2015 radio interview which was conducted shortly after he came out as homosexual, Varadkar said: “It’s not something that defines me. I’m not a half-Indian politician, or a doctor politician, or a gay politician, for that matter. It’s just part of who I am. It doesn’t define me. It is part of my character, I suppose.
He will be officially confirmed later this month after parliament reconvenes.
Speaking to news shortly after the election victory, Varadkar, said he was delighted, humbled and honored to win the election.
