Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says networking among terrorist groups has increased the need for countries to close ranks to counter the threats posed by their activities.
The vice president said this at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa while receiving the Bangladeshi Chief of Army Staff, General Abu Belal Muhammad.
He said the federal government was aware that terrorists “within our own borders are cooperating with ISIL”, adding that “such evil collaborations must have a response from countries that share similar experiences and can present a credible force against terrorists.
The vice president, who urged international collaboration against terrorism, said Nigeria would continue to cooperate in that regard.
He said improved cooperation between the Bangladeshi and Nigerian military would curb threats posed by terrorist groups within and around both countries’ borders.
Earlier, Muhammad had stressed the need to strengthen relations on the defence and economic fronts in order to tackle challenges peculiar to both countries.
